I ended 2024 on a reading slump. I set an aggressive goal of 75 books to read in 2025 and as I type this on February 19, I have already read 20. Over half of those are backlist books from Catherine Bybee (all from Kindle Unlimited). I had three standout books the month of January.
- All the Missing Pieces | Catherine Cowles It has been awhile since I have read a good mystery that sucked me in and didn’t freak me out. This book was that. It was a nice refresh and hard to put down.
- It’s a Love Story | Annabel Monaghan This was a complimentary ARC for a book that releases later this spring. Annabel is one of my new favorite authors and she keeps getting better and better. I read this book over two sittings in four days. The character development, the romance movies and the fun family trip all worked together for a great read. One of my favorites so far in 2025.
- Famous Last Words | Gillian McAllister This was also a complimentary ARC through NetGalley and William Morrow publishers. Mystery / thriller might be the genre for 2025. I haven’t had a missing person, mystery thriller capture my attention like this one in years. It was twisty, unputdownable and I had no idea what was going to happen until the very end. So good.
